Professional massage, soft tissue work in health-aesthetic problems

Declarations of the customers coming to massage offices are simple, pragmatic. There want to be more slim, more shapely, to decrease Cellulite. So most often declare their own expectations, but whether a main problem is exactly cellulite? Perhaps it is a local accumulation of the adipose tissue? Maybe pseudo cellulite or real overweight? The flaccidity of the skin whether perhaps swellings? And, if we can see additional problems with weak blood vessels or fibrosis? Every form of mentioned problems can coexist with other, however they demand diagnostics, settlements of priorities in the therapy and differentiations of the treatments.

In cellulite changes, one of basic methods practical both in the diagnostics and the treatment with the confirmed effectivity is massage. It is also refer to prophylaxis, because cellulite changes have the progressive character. So we not only attend it, but we hold back this changes. Czytaj dalej

Massage aplication after plastic surgery. Part I

Question about practice and training for massage after plastic surgery. Answer from correspondence question. In connection with your question:

1. We use specialized massage not only in sense of plastic surgery as cosmetic, but reconstructive too. So do not just apply to massage and work with soft tissue after face lift, liposuction and abdominal plasty. Massage is also used for treating scars after burns, trauma, fibrosis, this also applies to breast reconstruction or after mastectomy.

Treatments on the face is a separate issue: the cases, facial reconstruction, post-transplant skin, some dental interventions.

Massage or its components can be used not only after surgery but also before.
As an aid in the palpable diagnosis.
However, these are procedures performed for medical indications, your doctor shall decide.
Presoterapia sometimes helps in the treatment, it is thrue. Massage equipment, cuffs, sometimes taping.

But most helpful is a specialized manual massage, a combination of connective tissue massage, fascial release, lymphatic drainage Manual. Of course, not within one session!

As to the question of breast massage after angioplasty, part of the massage is used more as a self massage.
And also there are differences in procedures due to the country where such treatments have been made.

Personally, I often work with scars, burns, transplants, but also in the second period after liposuction revitalization.

Summing up, the surgeon should write guidelines for the type of massage. It’s not just a recommendation and clinical indications.

As regards the article, actually I wrote once, but it was rather a demonstrative, a brief article, just some suggestions:

Descriptions of subjective reactions. Massage and movement give you the feeling of more personal space Part IIII

Descriptions of subjective reactions and softness of movements are best conveyed through touch, only supported by images from outside medicine, which are, however, slowly becoming present in academic work. You can present the concept of particular elements of the session, but you cannot show a framework in an article where there is no space.

Recently, a patient of mine has described the session as follows: Czytaj dalej

An example of body work with IMBW concept.

Considering joint ailments, one of the factors besides injury is overload. Not always a big one. Also, those smaller ones which day by day accumulate tension stiffening us and, in consequence, leading to slight changes in joint planes. However, with regard to tiredness of the muscles, there are microinjuries, inappropriate diet, external factors, thermal changes, lack of harmony in antagonist muscles. We observe excess tension, stiffening, sometimes fibrosis, muscle contracture, swelling or further loss of elasticity.

Tensions of psychosomatic nature appear in similar planes. They do not attack specific points, but rather single muscles or a group of muscles performing certain ‘patterns of motion’. As a result of intense or prolonged stress there appears a momentary Czytaj dalej

Expressing emotion. Massage and movement give you the feeling of more personal space. Part II

Expressing emotions

Expressing emotions – with particular reference as a process – is also about using and exchanging energy. Behind this huge simplification there lies the basis of body work and movement. Subtle movement is the key. Being alive, the body is in constant motion, even in extreme cases it never ceases. Movement, especially spontaneous one, gives us priceless liveliness, but it is also captured in the breath. Czytaj dalej

Massage and movement give you the feeling of more personal space. Part 1

When we visit websites or go through folders, at first glance we may get an impression that there is a lot of preventive action there, which means action against something. There is seemingly a lot of negation there. It is not about negating the massage itself, but rather that we have got used to promoting it as anti-stress massage, anti-aging massage, anti-cellulite massage, or anti-pain massage. All in all, there is a lot of „anti” for starters.

The question is: How does it make us approach massage? Does it really make sense to prevent stress? Or its long-term effects? Do we go for a massage immediately when an ailment restricting our movement appears, when we feel tingling or flaccidity? Or only when Czytaj dalej

Why this way? Part III

Integrating Body Work Massage Piotr Szczotka concept.

In this regard, for several years, I try to share these experiences promoting among others IMBW, the Integrative Massage Body Work, as a relaxing and therapeutic massage, deep relaxation, body work, with elements of therapeutic massage. Focusing on tension, pain and other symptoms of psychosomatic origin.

I bear in mind work with soft tissues, as well as subjective, subtle patient’s reactions not only to a massage, but also to touch itself. Furthermore. I promote in my concept and development of: EF, Emotional Face and  DMA – Dynamic Anti-cellulite Massage used also in the modeling of problem areas.

Nowadays in many methods breathing and other psycho-physical aspects are taken into account especially dealing with mixed injuries. IMBW session has many noted, diagnostic values, especially when the client who comes to the treatment doesn’t really know what to expect from the massage or body work.
